Our History
Lanehouse Vauxhall & Suzuki, with branches in Weymouth, Bridport and now Dorchester, is part of the Lanehouse Group.
Founded in Weymouth, the company has steadily expanded since its inception over 35 years ago, establishing itself as one of the leading players on the South coast of Dorset.
Now with three dealerships in the county. For many years the group traded with a single Vauxhall dealership in Weymouth, originally known as RGB Hart. Peter Avery joined the company and after a few years took over the business, which started on Lanehouse rocks road.
The dealership started off as a Opel dealer before the Vauxhall brand took over in the 1980's. The garage had a small showroom with a small petrol site which was out grown very quickly. A new building on the Grandby Industrail Estate was purposily built to house the every growing Vauxhall brand, leaving the old site to be knocked down and rebuilt with eight new fuel pumps and a state of the art car wash system which was an immediate success.
In the early 1990's the company wanted to have a better coverage on the South coast, so our Bridport branch at St Andrews estate, was born. The site has grown steadily with the help of Mr Heath Thresher the branch manager, he has over time built a great customer database with the help of his team.
Finally adding to the group is our Dorchester branch, which began trading July 2008 with the help of Mr Stuart Carter and his team.
The company in March 2010 has added the Suzuki brand to its status. The Suzuki brand is a small car based company and like Lanehouse value there family based customers. Who come back over and over again.
